Custom Music on Hold
Music on hold (MOH) is the playing recorded music to fill the silence that would be heard by telephone callers who have been placed on hold.
Blucom allows users to upload audio files in .mp3 (MPEG layer three) format and with a maximum file size of 10MB.
Audio files are converted by Blucom in real-time in up to HD quality and ready for use via the portal typically within 10 minutes.
Uploading files
To upload a file to your account simply login to your control panel and select ‘Music on Hold’ from the main menu following by the selecting the ‘Upload’ button.
Problems with silent audio from custom MOH files
Whilst our systems will try to normalise and re-sample your audio files we have seen errors resulting in silent or reduced audio caused by the following:
- VBR – Variable bit rate files (Resample the audio to a fixed bit rate (i.e 128kbps)
- ID3 Tags – Metadata tags should be removed. (This can be done via file properties)
- High-Frequencies (Audio recordings over the frequency range for some audio codecs will result in clipping as the file is downsampled i.e 44000 KHz / G.711 / ULaw / G.722 / OPUS)
- Fluctuations in volume – Normalised files will have a reduced amplitude causing the file to sound quiet.
